About Me

Hi, I’m Katherine. I am a UKCP and ADMP UK registered Dance Movement Psychotherapist working with adults from a range of backgrounds in Edinburgh.

I believe in tuning in and paying attention to your body when exploring experiences and emotions. I support you to understand the subtle emotional signals and tiny gut responses which may impact work, social, and private lives. I offer working alongside you in therapy sessions as you take some time to breathe and (re)find your internal strength and footing.

My approach is integrative, drawing from different psychotherapeutic models with a person-led approach. What is most important to me is building a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship with each client I work with - providing space for you to unpick your tangles and explore what is important to you.

Because I am trained as a Dance Movement Psychotherapist, my approach is grounded in exploring bodily experience, but I also utilise other creative modalities - including drawing and using clay, sandplay, and utilising small instruments - as well as verbal reflection.

In our work together, I can help you to:

Deepen your awareness of emotion and how it shows up in your body
- explore the subtle (and big) emotional and physical signals that shape your experiences
- understand your emotions in the context of your body’s experiences
- notice and shift attitudes and behaviours that feel stuck

Reconnect your body and mind in a way that feels grounded and safe
- understand how posture, breath, and movement connect with your feelings
- foster a grounded, integrated body-mind presence

Strengthen your relationships with yourself and others
- enhance connection and communication in your relationships
- deepen understanding of yourself

Build resilience for life’s challenges and transitions
- grow your capacity to hold difficult experiences with more ease
-strengthen your ability to navigate life’s highs and lows

Previous Experience

I now offer therapy in Edinburgh, but previously worked for six years in a multi-disciplinary team for an NHS Trust in England. I provided group and individual therapy for adults, working both in mainstream mental health and a specialist learning disability service. Prior to this, I worked in a variety of organisations and charities including mental health cafes, adult day centres, and community projects.

I previously served on the Council of my professional organisation, the Association for Dance Movement Psychotherapy UK, where particularly large pieces of work included overseeing our 40th Anniversary celebration and conference, as well as co-leading on our UKCP organisational re-accreditation.
